I'm Tom, from Shropshire. I am currently studying physiotherapy, my second degree at Keele university which is where I met and worked with Joel. My passion is for the outdoors, health and wellbeing.
"What petition? Oh you mean this thing?" - Tom with the petition on the day it launched. It now has over 30,000 signatures.
Originally, Joel approached me and asked if I was interested in being the team's physiotherapist and told me all about the Free West Papua Campaign and the situation in West Papua. I asked if he had a full team, expecting him to say yes, he said no, and now, me, a guy who has never done any competitive swimming in his life is swimming a long distance relay on a huuuuge Lake!
I am honoured to be involved and really hope that through this swim we can raise awareness of the West Papuan crisis and make a difference for the people of West Papua. This is a fantastic opportunity to give people their dignity and their freedom.
You can make the most of this opportunity, by signing the petition.
As we like to say: Add your name, #BackTheSwim and help #LetWestPapuaVote.
